How to Embrace Pensacola’s New Brand Identity
First major visual update in more than ten years, the City of Pensacola has unveiled a refreshed brand identity. Designed to respect the city’s long history while reflecting its current growth and future direction, the new brand includes a modern logo, updated color palette, and complete visual system.
A Brand Rooted in History and Progress
At the center of the update is the revived theme “Where Florida Begins.” City officials say the tagline highlights Pensacola’s role as America’s first settlement and its position as a cultural gateway to the state of Florida. The phrase connects Pensacola’s past with its current momentum as a growing coastal city.
According to the city, the refreshed identity aims to tell a clear story, one that honors tradition while embracing change.
Inspiration Behind the New Logo
The new logo draws inspiration from several iconic elements tied to Pensacola’s identity. These include the City of Five Flags, the natural beauty of the Gulf Coast, and the Blue Angels’ Delta Breakout maneuver. Together, these influences are meant to reflect movement, energy, innovation, and civic pride.
City leaders say the visual system is flexible and modern, making it easier to use across signage, digital platforms, vehicles, and public materials.
Local Partnership With HatchMark Studio
The rebrand was developed in partnership with Pensacola-based branding agency HatchMark Studio. Mayor D.C. According to Reeves, the new brand reflects the city’s heritage as well as its future.
He said the update looks beyond the city’s 467 years of history and focuses on where Pensacola is headed next.
HatchMark Studio founder Veronique Zayas said every detail was carefully designed to honor local roots while bringing fresh energy to how the city presents itself. As a Pensacola resident, she noted that working on the project was both a professional and personal milestone.
Phased Rollout Across the City
The city plans to introduce the new brand gradually. The rollout will begin at high-visibility locations and touchpoints, followed by updates to signage, vehicles, websites, and other official materials. Officials say this approach will allow for a smooth transition while giving residents time to experience the new look as it becomes part of daily life.
